Jan 28, 2005 (AXcess News) Sydney - Australian terror suspect Mamdouh Habib has arrived back in Sydney after being released from Guantanamo Bay. U.S. officials said they didn't have enough evidence to charge the former taxi driver with terrorist offenses. The Australian government has insisted that Mr. Habib trained with al-Qaida and had prior knowledge of the September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States.
After four years in detention - most of them at the U.S. base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba - Mamdouh Habib has arrived home.
Australian Foreign Minister Alexander Downer said in a statement that Mr. Habib had been reunited with his family.
