This was no easy win for Genk against Lokeren. Tom Soetaers (photo) was man of the match scoring the only goal of this home fixture.

Genk got off to an excellent start putting all their energy into the game, but this did not put any goals on the scoreboard.

As the match progressed Genk calmed down, but returned to the offensive again in the second half.

Tom Soetaers took the home team into the lead in the 47th minute and this was the only goal the crowd was going to see.

Genk did allow Lokeren to come back into the match, but the East Flemings failed to equalise.

Scorer Tom Soetaers conceded that this was no easy victory, but added it was normal the team couldn't play top class soccer all the time.

After the match Genk coach Hugo Broos told reporters that Lokeren could have scored during the second half if the visitors had had more luck on their side, but the coach remained ecstatic: "This is fantastic. We've won for the eleventh time. We've got the best attack and the best defence".
