twins turn triple play

Minnesota turns triple play two weeks after falling victim to it

MINNEAPOLIS -- A triple play is a rarity in baseball, but don't tell that to the Twins.

Just two weeks after the Twins hit into a triple play against the White Sox on May 14, they managed to turn one themselves on Saturday night in their 9-5 win over the Mariners at the Metrodome.

"I've only seen like three in my whole career, and two happened this month," Torii Hunter said. "That's pretty exciting to see a triple play. I get chills. I'm a defensive guy and it's kind of fun to see a triple play in person."

It was the first triple play turned for the Twins since July 17, 1990, at Boston -- when the team accomplished the feat twice in the same game -- and the 11th one in club history.
