Former players agree to donate brains for concussion study
NEW YORK -- Six retired NFL players are among a dozen athletes who agreed to donate their brains to study the long-term effects of concussions, the New York Times reported on its website Tuesday night.
Former New England Patriots linebacker Ted Johnson, one of the players who committed to the donation, hopes Boston University's Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy can help clear up the debate on the issue.
"I shouldn't have to prove to anybody that there's something wrong with me," Johnson told the newspaper.

Betting on when and where the U.S. military will strike a U.S. city next
if you don't comment no angel will gets its wings... 0This week in futbol
This weekend the Vikings of the Jupiler league pulled a holdup in Roeselare.
Lokeren, the team that refuses to attack, that plays awful futbol were playing a road game.
The match is Roeselare-Lokeren.
Roeselare had a zillion chances to score, but the Lokeren goalie Copa saved it all.
Lokeren had a good chance, but million dollar man Golan found a way to miss this :
In the 93th minutes Marcel Mbayo did the impossible : score
Most undeserved win ever.
With this win the European Vikings are fookun 4th in league. This says a lot about the fucking mickey mouse competion we have here in Belgium.
Over/unders
On Notice :
-Jupiler PRO league
-Germans
week 3 in the great NFLdegen experiment sunday/monday division
week 3 of the NFLdegen experiment went much like week 2 only one game worse. Sunday started off terrible, the first six games had us under .500 and looking like the day was setting up for a rout. something like 4-4 before 3:00 games started. Miami dolphins used a college offense scheme to bewilder the mighty new England patriots and blow them completely up 38-13.
The -12.5 fav of new England was completely off the mark, and NE is now on notice for a bad performance can come any week.
Buffalo another highly touted AFC east team could barely get it done against the raiders missing the spread by about 8.
Second half starting at 3:00 looked much better at the half we were about 6-1 and poised for another break even Stephen weekend. by the time it was over Sunday night as Dallas covered against green bay at green bay. we finished Sunday at 8-7-0.
THen comes a Monday night and a favre led jets team goes out to play the bolts already ahead by +9, the jets go ahead and run back an interception for a TD making them ahead of the spread +16. after that they proceed to just give it back.
Somehow the brain trust on that jets squad thought an onside kick with 3/4 of the game to play was a great idea. guess what fuckers
it backfired and set you back in a giant hole you could not dig yourselves out of, with that porous defense of yours. yes you held LT to under a Franklin, but fuck did your secondary stink from all the scorched fucking flesh out there.
And just like a favre he threw so many balls where only the bolts could catch them, its a wonder SD didn't post a bigger fookun number. Conclusion: I'm fuckin off the jets favre band wagon, They are a sieve at defense and their receivers and QB are on different pages.
so week 3 reads
game time decision 8-8-0
Rosco 10-6-0
beer cur 9-7-0
random guy 6-10-0
Benedict 7-9-0
dawgs 6-10-0
joesixpack 4-12-0
somehow we talked ourselves out of a couple wins. one being a switch on buffalo covering a 9.5 spread when we both had Oakland covering earlier. bad mistake and one not to be repeated. week 4 i get to be the deciderer any games we don't agree my choice gets the nod. i better study up hard, its going to be a great week 4

Instead of being froth on the surface of the real economy, speculation became and was widely regarded as the real economy itself.
oil is was biological residue of plant and animal fossil remains as a hoax designed to perpetuate the myth of limited supply.

Denver can fuckin blow me, and other assorted rantings from week 4 of the great experiment
Saturday addition
Saturday is for kids football(NCAA) and European soccer. i pick the football he picks the futbol.
starting with NCAA i tried to stay in the big ten since its the home conference, i wanted to believe Ohio state wasn't a cream puff against a team called TROY. who ever heard of this troy team? the spread was OU -20.5 i was on the band wagon but backed off after reading that troy was at least capable of scoring scads of points.
Bennie wells still injured and OU was starting a differ ant QB. why not take the dawg you say? well if i bet against ou they score fiddy and troys team bus crashes into their bench at half time killing half the team............not betting OU was a win and saved 20.00.
real bets gophers -6.5 over Fla. Atlantic WIN gophers crushed 37-6? 4 interceptions and a beating like a big ten school should over and division 2 school. gophers are 4-0 in the cream puff paret of their schedule and face OU next week at OU Ohio state favs -17.5 that stadium holds over 100k people and doesn't suffer visitors well.
Indiana -3 agin ball st, LOSER ball state is in Indiana and David Letterman's Alma mater.
ball state crushed Hoosiers and are now 4-0 one dewd from ball state was carted off on stretcher with spinal cord injury, hope he recovers.
Iowa +1 to Pittsburgh, PUSH Pittsburgh lost to bowling green gophers whipped bowling green, my reasoning was any iowa team can beat the gophers so why not beat up on Pittsburgh since it lost to fookun bowling green. didn't happen Iowa must really suck and maybe gophers have a chance of getting Floyd of rose dale back this year...
in the middle of all this action is European futbol, and this Saturday unlike the last one we are taking a terrible beating, actually a prolonged beating from midweek corner kick bets and overs. so much red ink I'm antsy to keep betting kid football.
late night games.
lsu -2 at auburn. WIN home team usually wins this game but I'm a gambol er and i like lsu.
lsu comes back late in the game to win it on the road and prove its national ranking cred 26-21, most important it covers.
rice at Texas this game was a O/U of 70, WIN in my mind rice ain't scoring more than ten leaving Texas to score 61 at least. i like the under and its a winner barely! 52-10
so kid ball is 3-1-1 and a tad ahead of the game, but not enough to cover the massive losses of futbol.

IT’S THE DERIVATIVES, STUPID!WHY FANNIE, FREDDIE AND AIG ALL HAD TO BE BAILED OUT
Why the extraordinary bailout measures for Fannie, Freddie and AIG? The answer may have less to do with saving the insurance business, the housing market, or the Chinese investors clamoring for a bailout than with the greatest Ponzi scheme in history, one that is holding up the entire private global banking system. What had to be saved at all costs was not housing or the dollar but the financial derivatives industry; and the precipice from which it had to be saved was an "event of default" that could have collapsed a quadrillion dollar derivatives bubble, a collapse that could take the entire global banking system down with it.

HAS BRAD CHILDRESS BEEN FIRED YET?!!
WEEK 2 IN THE NFL AND OTHER ASSORTED PILES OF CRAP
week 2 against the spread our team has a record of 7 wins 6 losses and 2 pushes.
not exactly stellar but not a complete car wreck. part of our team isn't even American. the guy hates wanker Armour ball but loves to gambol.
this week we did a grand experiment and bet all 15 NFL games one game canceled because of the weather, (i guess NFL doesn't play in hurricanes) a small wager on each but, at the rate we bet about week 4 we would have to go to the bank to re-fund the account. I'm fucking unemployed so the season might coulda been lost for me.
so a 7-5-2 record is prolly a big triumph i don't feel it but it should be celebrated.
our system is evolving every day. this past week we each picked our teams set them side by side for comparison. each game we agreed on we kept as is . each game we disagreed on we then debated why we thought we were right then decided on the course of action after debate.
our first "debate was the Tenn cincy match up i went cincy he went Tenn. my argument was simple, Tenn quarter back was injured and fookun suicidal Vince Young's momma called the cops looking for her boy that ran off in a snit because the fans booed him and he was injured? well i didn't look any deeper at back up, and Collins is adequate and way better than vikings starter tjack.
partner said OK and of course cincy got their asses kicked 1 -ITYS.
next debate was colts vikings i took vikings mostly emo since they are my home team he took colts because he knows the Vikings find a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. i relented after zero debate as i can't be objective bystander.
result Indy covers wins and #2 +ITYS
third debate is giant +9 over rams i take giants being the lucky assed world beaters that they are, and rams got blown up the week before i took big spread. the Europeans counter part "felt" a rams cover and a mission to prove they didn't shit through cheese cloth. i relented, a feeling is as good as a hunch to me. result is #3 -ITYS
And the 4Th debate was the Sunday night tilt at Cleveland, Pittsburgh was a +6.
steelers had won 9 in a row against Cleveland. my theory was Cleveland was due, almost as good as a "feeling". lucky for me and us it rained sideways or steelers probably crush the dawg pound as browns can't fuckin score. result #4 +ITYS.
so we win two and lose two of the i told you so games. we put the hastily drawn system to the test and and lived to play another day.
Sunday was also a great day on the soccer front i believe we went into the NFL action with a Sunday soccer league betting cushion of 60.00 or maybe a little more?
I'll let my colleague in Europe with his finger on the pulse of the Soccer action, fill you in on that story

Saturday football/futboll round up
the tigers of Missouri were favored by 25ish over Nevada ,two of the top offenses in the nation. Missouri ranked 6Th in the country Nevada ranked Podunk u.
its one of the matches on paper the tigers should blow out opponents , but as we all know if a schmo from Minnesota bets it Podunk u takes the big fav to cleaners. well something good happened on the way to the bank, tigers covered by about 20 odd points winning 69-17, and schmo from Minnesota gets a win on first bet of the day.
second up was an emo bet, Ohio state to cover the 11.5 points against USC at Trojan ville. now the top running back was questionable for ou and should have told the story right there. but the SFM was on an emo adventure and wanted to be only ass hat from here with a winner on ou.....guess not Trojans 35 buckeyes 3.. my next prediction , OU goes undefeated rest of season but I'll never bet again on em this year.
Third game of the day was a late starter on west coast, Wisconsin 2 over Fresno state. Wisconsin is a number ten and blew out previous weeks opponent i think scoring 5oish, Fresno state is ranked 21st, now a low ranking like that can sink you to about 30 in a hurry with a couple of loses. but Fresno st held strong powerful fat cheese fed beasts from Wisconsin to only 13 points and we barely squeak by with a win. so the SFM goes 2 out of 3 with kid football for Saturday and is Set up for a full day of Sunday football with the team betting all 15 games this week in hopes for sudden greatness. stay tuned for Sunday recap either later today or Monday.

"She knows more about energy than probably anybody else in the Unites States.
She confused domestic energy production with domestic energy supply. They are different. Production is 20%, supply is 3.5%
No, she didn't. If you follow the link provided above by wark, it is quite clear that Alaska's energy production is 3.5% of the national whole. But it holds 18.5% of the national oil reserves and is responsible for 12% of our domestic oil production.
Palin and McCain are not confusing production with supply, they are using the word "energy" to mean "oil." This is much more worrisome than the simple fact that she made a mistake. Not only is her claim untrue, but it demonstrates that Republicans, and the McCain campaign especially, is concerned only with oil production and not other domestic sources of energy.

NFL 6-2 vs the spread : week one: anybody looking for culpepper?
this is what a pit sign holder looks like in F1
nascar has nuttin like it....
European football, extreme suction for the weekend . If it wasn't for Germany scoring 6 goals in second half I think it woulda been a complete blow out.
Formula One race at Spa-Francorchamps in the Belgian grand pre, was won then lost by some English dewd. he cheated by cutting off a corner and not yielding his ill gotten lead fast enough. some claim a Ferrari mafia hatin on the Brits and mclarren but how the fuck would i know i watch nascar, they usually only turn left.
This week on notice:
Twins, twins are on notice because i don't want to bet a team that brought back Eddie fucking gardardo to bolster up a sagging bullpen. they might as well hired 70 year old Rik Albert blyleven from the fucking broadcast booth. twins are circling the fucking drain and going away from pennant. good thing the money grubbing assholes could stay in contention long enough to get two million fat asses in the seats buying 20.00 hot dawgs and cokes.
Dale Jr and quiet possibly all of nascar, we never have won a bet with them rednecks
oh yeah who the fuck took Eli's brother and 9.5 points? guy aint played in months had surgery in July on infected knee. fuckin colts played like an infection ..........

Alaskans Speak (In A Frightened Whisper): Palin Is “Racist, Sexist, Vindictive, And Mean”

“So Sambo beat the bitch!”
This is how Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin described Barack Obama’s win over Hillary Clinton to political colleagues in a restaurant a few days after Obama locked up the Democratic Party presidential nomination.
According to Lucille, the waitress serving her table at the time and who asked that her last name not be used, Gov. Palin was eating lunch with five or six people when the subject of the Democrat’s primary battle came up. The governor, seemingly not caring that people at nearby tables would likely hear her, uttered the slur and then laughed loudly as her meal mates joined in appreciatively.
“It was kind of disgusting,” Lucille, who is part Aboriginal, said in a phone interview after admitting that she is frightened of being discovered telling folks in the “lower 48” about life near the North Pole.
Then, almost with a sigh, she added, “But that’s just Alaska.”
Racial and ethnic slurs may be “just Alaska” and, clearly, they are common, everyday chatter for Palin.read the rest....
